Eastfjords

There are some really beautiful spots along the sparsely populated Eastfjords near Egilsstaðir. A tour along Lögurinn/Lagarfljót leads you around the lake either to Hengifoss or to Hallormsstaðarskógur, a real forest in which you can find Iceland's tallest tree.

Furthermore, you have also the opportunity to make a trip to the Kárahnjúkar dam and to Seyðisfjörður.

Some fjords southwards, not far from Reyðarfjörður is an old feldspar mine located and open for visitors.

Again some fjords further southwards, in Stöðvarfjörður is Petra Sveinsdóttir's situated. She collected rocks from the surrounding fjords and shows them to the general public in her house and garden.
