North Iceland
There isn't much to discover between Hólmavík and Akureyri until you have almost reached Akureyri. But then you can visit two interesting sights: a turf church in Víðimýri and turf houses in Glaumbær! If you have enough time you can also go to Hofsós to see some basalt columns or go to Hólar to visit one of the two historic bishop's sees (the other one is in Skálholt).
Another highlight is the Öxnadalur, an approximately 30 km long gorge towards Akureyri. Once arrived in Akureyri you can catch a plane to fly to Grimsey, a small island due North. The northerly end of that island lies on the Arctic Circle. Those who don't want to fly can take the ferry in Dalvík.
