Westfjords
The Westfjords are something special: from tourists neglected and with a decreasing number of inhabitants is it an ideal place where you can enjoy the vast and quiet nature.
However, you will never get bored. The Westfjords offer a fantastic landscape: high and barren mountain passes, Látrabjarg with its bird rocks, Dynjandi with its 60 m high main waterfall and numerous smaller ones below. And even more: the open-air museum Osvör near Bolungarvík, the fishery museum in Ísafjörður that I can highly recommend, and the bird island Vigur.
The Drangajökull is located on the peninsula Hornstrandir on the other side of Ísafjarðardjúp in the north and waits for hikers.
The landscape en route to Hólmavík is less spectacular except one plateau not far from Hólmavík, an undulating landscape with small lakes and snowfields (even in summer).
