Kumamoto & Shinkansen Ride
Kumamoto is one of the few cities that has a tram (and it is also very cheap). One of the most important sights is the Suizenji-kōen - a garden with the replica of Japan's topography. Mount Fuji can be easily spotted. This garden is a foretaste of what you have to expect in terms of Japanese horticulture!
Another highlight is the Shinkansen train. They work better than a Swiss clockwork. You can literally set your clock to the train's arrival and departure.
