Peru

What shall I say about Perú? You have somehow the expectation that you are not only traveling to another country but you are also reminded of taking care of yourself and your possessions because Perú is one of the poorest countries in the world.

However, once I got all my stuff through customs my view of the world was adjusted by people who were sitting between customs and baggage reclaim offering money exchange services. They made a mistake in their calculations but instead of keeping quiet (they gave me less money and I didn't noticed it) they went after me giving me the remainder amount. I hadn't expected that.

Unfortunately, not everything went smooth for me: I got the runs, missed some museums and archaeological sites, and also had some troubles with a guard at Machu Picchu. But that was certainly my own problem. The tour itself was perfectly organized.

Perú is such an amazing country in terms of its scenery, its culture and history as well as its cuisine. What the Peruvian cuisine has to offer is primarily the runs. Well, at least if you dine in the wrong restaurant. However, you do not need to hesitate if you want to eat Ceviche, Anticuchos, Mariscos, Llama, Alpaca und Rocoto Relleno de Arequipa.

My personal highlight in Perú was definitly Arequipa with its medival monesteries and churches, but especially because of the Monasterio de Santa Catalina. You shouldn't miss that.

There are also some panorama photos.
