Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes, Mandor Valley

Aguas Calientes is only accessible by train and goods are there even more expensive than in Cuzco. Nevertheless, it is a very nice town.

You should take care what you bring in to Machu Picchu and what you leave in your hotel room because not everything is permitted in Machu Picchu and the guards are very thoroughly. It is very easy to get into trouble if you start arguing with them. Trust me, I know what I am talking about...

If you have the chance to get there early in the morning, you can also hike to Wayna Picchu. Bear in mind that you have to start this ascent before 1pm because the entrance will be closed at that time.
No matter which parts of Machu Picchu you intend to visit you should not be in a hurry so that you can appreciate this historical site in all its beauty.

Another highlight is the hiking tour on the railroad tracks into the Mandor Valley, not only because you will be walking directly on the railroad tracks but also because of the beautiful gardens in the Mandor Valley and the thunderous river along the tracks.
